Beautiful Site, Shame About the Litter My first visit and it's winter - still beautiful though. Bare and sparcely covered mini chalk mounds abound, some revealing natural ponds with reed beds. All set against the backdrop of larger chalk hill surrounds. I have seen photos and read about how stunning it is in spring and summer when the wild flowers are in bloom. Look forward to going back then. I may be wrong but I think this beautiful and ecologically rich site may be being considered for development. This may explain why previous volunteer teams have not collected litter recently, along with it being winter. If housing is permitted here, it would be a crying shame!

I had to make 2 visits to this place to make my mind up about it, Shme there is alot of litter here, but the place is HUGE and full of nature and water. The lake i found is lovely, clear and big. The chalk piles left over from the closure are still here and have a lovely mix of nature growing over them. the chalk hills are huge and high up . If you enjoy walking for hours then this is a great place, i liked it very much. There is so much to see here, so much nice things around every corner. I even found left over items from when the place was a working chalk quarry.

Unusual terrain makes for a very interesting walk. My grandchildren were fascinated with the moon like nature of the surroundings. Everyone I have taken there so far finds it enjoyable.

Excellent for cycling Burnt out motor bikes ruin the place

Visited here for the first time and it is amazing place to come for wildlife and stunning views of it's chalk landscape and the surroundings. The lake there is very clear too and very picturesque. You wouldn't think you're in Houghton Regis when you visit and it almost feels like you're in a whiter version of the Lake District. It's just a slight shame that kids were riding about on unlicenced off road motorbikes which ruins the tranquillity somewhat. If you want a bit less noise best come during weekdays when the kids are at school so you can enjoy the Nature Reserve even more!
