Really nicely laid out pub with separated dining area. We pre booked a table which was essential as it was very busy. Staff were friendly and attentive. You have to order your own food and drink at the bar. Portions are a good size Toilets are clean and fresh. We sat in the bar area and had drinks after our food. Nice little snug area with a large tv and chairs
Today the 24th January, us three adults at about 12ish, had dinner & a drink in the main bar. The food was well cooked, fresh, and served in the right amount of time, the male server was excellent. But there could have been more bar staff, as it was a bit slow. But dont let that put you off, as the rest was bloody great.
I visited the recently refurbished Chequers last Saturday.. I have to say that they appear to have done a very good job of it. As for the general pub itself, it's the same ethos. Reasonably priced food and drink.and the staff seem friendly enough. This is very much a local pub,, and will continue too be that. But a very comfortable one.
Went here for Saturday lunch. Very good portions, in fact the largest portions I've ever seen, but struggled to eat it all. Steak was very chewy and I'd asked for well done but it was still a bit rare. Staff were very pleasant. It was difficult to find a table away from the large TV screens so having a conversation was hard work with the football blaring out. Difficult to complain when you get too much food...
Excellent lunch at a good price. Staff friendly and attentive too, they came to our table 4 times during the meal to ask if all was OK. My Scampi and chips with peas was enormous, about 20 pieces of scampi and only 8.99. Well cooked and presented - nice I will visit again.
